Hello everyone in this video we will show you how to make Realistic Velvet material using V-ray next for sketch up.Leave a comment below to send you the tex. So far, when working with Vray, we’ve talked about lighting our models – now I want to give you an introduction to working with materials in Vray. To start off, material editing in Vray 3.6 occurs within the asset editor, which can be found in the Vray for SketchUp toolbar. Changing the SketchUp material transparency, however, does not change the V-Ray material. Instead, it disables the Opacity binding. Texture Mode – Enables texture binding. Changing the V-Ray material texture changes the corresponding base application material texture and vise versa. Auto – Binds the Diffuse texture to the base app material. There are a number of different materials for use with V-Ray for SketchUp. These materials are quite versatile and each can be used in a number of ways to achieve different looks as needed from simulating simple surface properties like plastics and metals to complex uses such as translucent objects, subsurface materials, such as skin, and even light-emitting objects.

SketchUp Materials Browser contains icons representing each of the available color pickers. Switch between these color pickers by clicking one on of these icons. The controls available in the middle of the Materials Browser differ depending on the currently selected color picker.

For example, clicking on the Materials Picker displays several new controls for materials handling. SketchUp Materials bonus pack contains hundreds of great-looking materials that you can use to really make your SketchUp models shine.

Default Material

Geometry in SketchUp is assigned a default material as it is created. The default material can be changed by painting the geometry with a material.

Material Transparency

Materials also have an opacity property (a number between 0 and 100%) allowing you to create materials that behave like glass. Paint these materials on faces to create windows.

You create realistic SketchUp Materials from image files (such as .jpg pictures taken with a digital camera) using the Materials Browser.

In the VRay for Sketchup toolbar, the VRay icon leads you to the materials window. You can find your existing materials applied in the model at the bottom -- the “Material List” tab. By right clicking on a selection, you can edit each of them depending on your preference. On the upper portion, the material can be viewed as it can be seen when rendered. This serves as a guide as you go through the settings. Adjacent to the “Material List” is the “Quick Settings” tab, where you can change some properties of your selected material, in which you can initially set it whether “Generic”, “Paint”, “Plastic”, “Metal”, “Glass”, “Liquid”, “Gem”, “Car Paint”, “Emissive”, and “Subsurface Scattering”. The settings differentiate purposely for every material type. For “Paint”, you are able to set the “Diffuse Color”, “Reflection”, “Reflection Glossiness”, “IOR”, “Max Depth”, and “Bump”; while for “Car Paint”, you can adjust the “Base Color”, “Base Glossiness”, “Flake Color”, “Flake Density”, “Flake Scale”, “Flake Size”, “Coat Color”, “Coat Glossiness”, “Coat Strength”, and “Bump”. In an advanced level of setup, you can access a few more options by clicking on the right arrow button which you can find on the right side of the VRay materials window. This allows you to modify some values or to apply a different map or texture -- a customization. In fact, you can save such custom material by right clicking on your selection and choosing “save as”; and you can load it later on by “Import .vrmat file” button at the lower left of the tab.
